WFN members SILCO Worldwide Netherlands recently arranged transport of a helicopter to Canada. Sander Schols told WFN more:
“How do you move a helicopter across continents? When it comes to challenging shipments, SILCO Worldwide continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in international logistics. Recently, our expert team managed the safe transport of a 13-meter-long helicopter to Canada, a feat requiring meticulous planning, technical expertise, and exceptional attention to detail.
From the outset, the journey demanded specialised handling. Due to the helicopter’s size, the blades were carefully removed, crated in custom wooden boxes, and securely stowed beneath the main body of the helicopter. This careful packaging ensured that every piece arrived in pristine condition, while also meeting strict international safety standards. Upon arrival in Canada, the journey was far from over. We coordinated with local agents to transport the helicopter more than 1,200 kilometres from the port, completing the delivery over a two-day haul to the customer’s doorstep.
Each stage was executed with precision, from understanding regulatory requirements to managing delicate logistics within tight timelines. The result? A one-of-a-kind shipment delivered to a highly satisfied customer.
