We recently asked some of our members to share their views on the industry today, the benefits of networking, and their vision for the future. Here are some comments from Johnson Wang, Business Development Director at UbiPlus Supply Chain Management Limited, China.
How did you start your career in freight forwarding?
“That was 25 years ago. At that time the freight forwarding industry was just booming and young people were bravely entering into this industry after university graduation. I am one of them.”
What are your company’s main strengths?
“Ubi’s main strengths lie in advanced technology systems, local and international knowledge, highly efficient networking, enriched products, competitive pricing structure and personalized communication capabilities.”
What are the main challenges facing independent freight forwarders in 2025?
“Besides the global economy recession, as a freight forwarder, we are facing big challenges with regional conflicts, trade war with high tariffs and the increasing risks of payment fulfilment in 2025.”
What are the benefits of network membership for independent forwarders?
“A good network can help independent forwarders to serve customers globally, to compete with multinational forwarders and globalize their business rapidly. In the meantime, more personal closer relationships can be built during the annual meetings, which definitely improves the business among the members.”
What are your predictions for the future of the industry?
“The logistics industry in the future still remains uncertain, but optimistic. If we want to be more competitive in the future, we need to specialize in certain fields in certain areas and take the path of technology and innovation. Digitalization with AI will be more and more used and learning is the eternal theme.”
