RECENT ENQUIRIES

We receive regular enquiries from forwarders asking to join our network. These are sometimes in our full countries where we have long waiting lists, but we have also heard recently from companies in Paraguay, Cameroon and Ghana. We will let you know if any of the enquirers are strong enough to join our elite group.

NEW NETWORK MARKETING

We’re always trying to fill the gaps in countries where we have limited or no representation. It’s an ongoing challenge that we relish, finding high quality forwarders to join us. We are using all kinds of different marketing approaches. For example, the image below:

These adverts are sent to our database of 100,000s of forwarders. Some of them also feature direct quotes from our members. If you’d like to be featured, and your company name shared widely across the industry, please let Debbie know.

NEW ALLIANCE: CARGOWISE

WFN is pleased to announce a new partnership with WiseTech Global, the technology company behind the world’s leading global logistics software, CargoWise.

This global partnership is a strategic initiative designed to strengthen the network and open up a range of benefits for WFN members, including access to exclusive cost-savings on the integrated software platform. CargoWise has fast become the industry standard solution for forwarders and logistics professionals, so this is great news for members and the network as a whole. In fact, many WFN members are already using CargoWise for their operations and we believe all members will experience vast improvements from the system.

The range of modules available include freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing, shipping, tracking, land transport, rate management, accounting, e-commerce, cross border compliance and more.

For more information or to see a demo, simply get in touch with me, or email industry@wisetechglobal.com. You can also visit www.cargowise.com.

CargoWise will be present at our annual meeting in Dubai. You will be able to book an appointment with them to discuss the software.

BANKING FRAUD

Sadly, banking fraud is increasingly common. We send regular reminders to state: please do not trust an email giving you new bank details; the emails may be from a hacker. Some other signs that may indicate hacking:

> All other contacts will suddenly be removed from copy

> The email address you are receiving the mail from may have been slightly changed e.g. example@companyname.com might have changed to example@companynames.com

> You may be asked to send payment by MoneyGram, as opposed to the usual bank transfer

> You may be asked to send Cryptocurrency

> You may be asked to send the payment to a different country, rather than the country the member is based in

All these things are red flags that something is not right. It is best to use caution every time there is any kind of doubt, rather than risk being exposed.

Please therefore ALWAYS check over the phone with your partner, before changing bank details. Once you make the payment, our stance is that you are liable for this payment. Although you are the victim of a crime, you must still arrange payment.

WFN MEETING: UAE (14 – 16 APRIL 2024)

Of course, the best way to connect and do business with your fellow members is at our next meeting. The event will be held in Dubai, UAE, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek, 14 – 16 April 2024.

Thank you to everybody who has signed up thus far. It is admirable that you are committed to strengthening your relationships with your fellow WFN members. The ‘Early Bird’ delegate fee has now expired, but there is plenty of time to sign up. Please note that paid delegates will be first to access the meeting scheduler system when it opens for bookings in the new year. Please arrange payment now if you would like to join them.

Please do note that in accordance with our network Code of Conduct, meeting attendance is required every 2 years at a minimum. So if you missed Costa Rica, attendance is expected in Dubai. This is for the good health of the network and its members. Please sign up to join what is sure to be a great event.

HEAD OFFICE XMAS BREAK

Please note that WFN Head Office will be closed 23 – 26 December (inclusive) and 30 December – 1 January (inclusive). If you have any urgent enquiries 27 – 29 December, please email debbie@worldfreightnetwork.com. The whole team will be back online on Tuesday 2 January.

I hope the rest of 2023 is great for you, your team and your family, and look forward to working with you in the new year.

Kind regards
Kelly
