Dear WFN Members

Thank you VERY MUCH to the 55 people on the list for signing up and committing to pay a non-refundable deposit, to get our next event off the ground. Your support is truly appreciated and means that our meeting will definitely be going ahead in June. You are thoroughly deserving of having your name, “up in lights”.

Another 34 people have said they would like to join us in Costa Rica, making our total 89, however they’ve not agreed to pay a deposit now. Whenever you decide to pay the fee, the deposit amount will be non-refundable; the financial burden will not be shouldered solely by the generous 55 people listed above. Bear in mind that 100% of the delegate fee has always been non-refundable after the cut-off date, so not too much has changed.

How things have changed, though, regarding attendance. After consistently hosting events between 175 and 250 delegates, 89 is quite a difference; I am sure that more of you will commit to attending in June. However many attend, it is going to be a wonderful experience.

It is important to note that if you can travel, i.e. there are no quarantine restrictions for you, you are obliged to attend. One clause in the WFN Code of Conduct that you agreed to, acknowledges that you will attend meetings. It is not healthy for the network to have long-term members in a full country who never attend, and it will not be permitted if restrictions in your country have been lifted.

If you’re not yet on the list and want to make the most of your membership, join us. This is the perfect opportunity to meet fellow members (or reunite if you have already attended our events), network and socialise in person.

My business model is non-VAT’able here in the UK, as we’re an international membership association. All kinds of instructions are being given recently for payment. It’s important the facts are stated when paying our invoices, otherwise our service might be investigated / VAT added to our invoices. Kindly put ‘freight network membership,’ or something similar, as the reference.

I regularly include this warning in network updates, as sadly banking fraud is common. Please ALWAYS check over the phone with your partner, before changing bank details. Do not trust an email with new bank details. It may be from a hacker. Once you make the payment, my stance is that you are liable for this payment. Although you are the victim of a crime, you must still arrange payment. Best to use caution every time there is any kind of doubt, rather than risk being exposed.

We’re very happy to share your news and company marketing with the network, in our newsletter and on our website. The members who promote themselves regularly stand out in the network. Send any new developments to Debbie when you get the chance, so she can create a news article and link it to your website.

Remember that a variety of marketing tools are available to you to help you present yourself as a globally connected forwarder. If you would like to learn more, please contact Debbie.

Have a great month,

Kind regards
