Despite global economies being hit, forwarders continue to contact us about joining WFN. Recently, for countries where we have space, we’ve received enquiries from Chile, Qatar and Tanzania. We’ve also received applications from Denmark, Hungary, Romania and Tanzania. We’ll let you know if any of the enquirers are strong enough to join our elite group.

If you know of forwarders looking for a network, please mail Debbie with your recommendations. If a recommendation joins us within a month of you passing us their details, we will discount your next renewal fee, as a thank you for your help.

We had a very enjoyable Zoom Social this month. Debbie loved seeing you all and hearing your latest news. Thank you to all who joined us and shared your thoughts, experiences and knowledge.

Some of the topics discussed over the two sessions included: a decline in cargo volumes this year since reaching a peak after the pandemic in 2022; the effects of shipping lines and large forwarding companies approaching customers directly and offering lower rates to secure cargo directly; strengths of the smaller and medium size freight forwarders which includes the personal service offered and the availability to assist should anything go wrong, which is key to providing the best service; specialised services offered including equipment for project shipments and a Ro/Ro service.

If you’d like to join the next Zoom Socials, please add these details to your diaries:

Tuesday 18th July at 9.30am BST (UK Time)

Tuesday 18th July at 2pm BST (UK Time)

Debbie will send the log in details nearer the time.

As the meeting is fast approaching, here are some tips for you to make the most of the experience:

Identify your goals in advance. Are you looking for a new agent in a specific country? Are you keen to learn more about opportunities in a new region? Setting such objectives will help you do the most with your networking time, and achieve your goals.

Decide in advance whom you want to meet, before people’s schedules fill up. Our Meeting Manager system is designed to allow you to easily book one-to-one meetings with your fellow delegates ahead of time.

Be prepared to promote yourself: decide what promotional materials you wish to hand out, and be sure to bring enough with you. Business cards, brochures, and company branded merchandise items are all popular. In this digital era, taking selfies and connecting on WhatsApp are also fun and informal ways you make sure you stay connected with those you meet.

The best networkers take care to learn about potential connections, and take the time to get to know their potential partners. Luckily, that is easily done at our events as you’ll have ample time both in the meeting room and in a more relaxed, social setting.

We look forward to seeing many of you there for another enjoyable, fruitful event.

We will finally be back to our preferred time of the year for our meeting in 2024. If you’re not joining us in Costa Rica, please save the date to meet your partners in April 2024. The location for 2024 will be revealed at our meeting in Costa Rica. I have chosen a main hub. Please mail Debbie to confirm you will be joining us.

In just over 1 month, we will be gathering in Costa Rica at the Wyndham San José Herradura Hotel & Convention Center for our next member meeting. My team and I can’t wait to see you.

We are unlikely to return to the Americas for a considerable length of time after this event. So, if you’re nearer to Costa Rica than the rest of the world, we encourage you to take full advantage and attend in June.

If you are joining us in Costa Rica, please feel free to use the image below for your social media, marketing, email signatures etc. to show others that you are attending:

Kind regards
